Curious about Finca Bellavista Treehouse Community? Finca Bellavista is a treehouse community in the south Pacific coastal region of Costa Rica. This private retreat is a magical place where residents and guests can explore the natural wonders of the rainforest and enjoy a treetop lifestyle that exemplifies Costa Rica’s national phrase ‘Pura Vida’.
Nearly 600 acres of secondary and primary rainforest provide a custom-built backdrop to house this arboreal community – the first of its kind in the world. Perched overlooking the Golfo Dulce and nurtured by two whitewater rivers, the location of this unique enclave is unmatched in its magnificence and pulses with life. The finca is a true sanctuary for those that love nature and want to immerse themselves in the wonders of the rainforest. While it feels a world away, the close by Interamericana Highway provides easy access to modern-day amenities like airports, supermarkets, hospitals and restaurants, along with some of the country’s most stunning National Parks and reserves.
While Finca Bellavista is not a fancy hotel or a full-service resort, the community’s modest and customized amenities provide for a simplified lifestyle in a rustic, yet comfortable ambiance. The community ‘base camp’ enables access to a unique selection of activities, tours and services. Electronic bike and zip line tours, yoga classes and movie nights are available, along with food and beverages services, concierge, guest and property management services.
Tree houses and cabins are starting to speckle the skyline, and a handful are ready to rent to short and long-term visitors. Owners are in various stages of creating and building tree houses, bringing lots of new energy and excitement to the growing neighborhood, which is truly like no other in the world.
Sustainability
Though Finca Bellavista provides an experience for humans to dwell, interact, and grow within the treetop realm, our commitment to land stewardship and the environment is at the forefront of every decision. Everything we do at the finca is done with consciousness, caution and care guided by our personal beliefs. This is sacred ground.
Having as little impact as possible on the environment is a tenet of sustainability that is the focus of the Finca Bellavista community. Though we do not claim to be perfect, or 100% sustainable, Finca Bellavista is an entirely off the grid operation. All energy currently used on site is generated by the power of the sun and photovoltaic solar systems, and future energy needs will be met through a combination of solar and hydro assets. All homes must be stilt-built or arboreal in nature to allow for terrestrial migration of animals, a large amount of food consumed in our community and guest kitchens is grown on-site as well as sourced locally, and the footprint of the community is minimized as much as possible.
Finca Bellavista’s Community Guidelines provide a better idea of the vision for the community, building requirements for treehouses, and other considerations for preserving and living within the delicate rainforest environment.
