Namastay in the Jungle: Meet Our Newest Yoga Volunteers

Tree Pose takes on a whole new meaning as you gaze over a landscape of primary and secondary jungle, an ecosystem some scientists refer to as “the lungs of the earth.” The air is clean and crisp, the wood is smooth beneath bare feet, and the sound of birds and rushing water provide a natural alternative to studio music. It’s an experience worth repeating, and luckily – with the addition of a yoga volunteer program, guests are able to join in daily classes free of charge. This month, we are thrilled to welcome two unique volunteers to the program, and with them, their class offerings for Finca Bellavista visitors.

Meet Alison

A Canadian native with everything from professional tree planter to vegan baker on her resume, “Ali” came to the Finca to learn more about sustainable living and to teach as many sweaty flow classes as possible! She loves catering her classes to all age levels and she uses her background as a collegiate athlete to infuse an element of fitness and focus into her classes (alongside intention setting and breath awareness!). She has already led several classes, and guests have particularly enjoyed the opportunity to practice in their treehouse with Ali guiding them through a treetop flow. She will be with us through the New Year and we already have a few fun holiday-themed classes in the works!

Meet Walter

Hailing from Austria but with a heart for international travel, Walter came to us last-minute as he was travelling through Costa Rica and wrote to us with a desire to share his unique form of yoga with our guests. With more than a decade of teaching experience ranging from retreats to studios, Walter is a passionate student and teacher of Kundalini style yoga and enjoys teaching as well as leading healing ceremonies and private chakra work. He is currently crafting different guest experiences ranging from classes featuring meditation and dynamic movement to group sessions like the sacred cacao ceremony involving 100% pure, local cacao and heart-opening benefits associated with it.

We are thrilled to host this new program and help amazing teachers like Alison and Walter share their passion, and create lasting memories for guests as they practice in “paradise”. No matter if you are hoping to tap into a deeper self, or simply wake up with an amazing session of stretching and positive vibes, we’ll do our best to craft an unforgettable class. (Instructor tip: jump into an early class on your first morning to stretch your legs and get ready for a day of hiking or adventures like the Sky Trail or hiking the Red Loop!) In the mood to practice solo? Grab a mat in the Rancho and experience a blissful session wherever you like. No matter which you choose, we’re here to help you breath deep, re-energize, and unwind.
