Golfito is a port town that is steeped with history, as it was once United Fruit Company’s main Pacific banana port. Now, Golfito has a handful of small marinas, a few laid-back beaches that are accessible only by boat, and is the main access point for lodges on the Golfo Dulce. Golfito is far from ‘touristy’, and has a local, authentic vibe.

Hostal del Mar is Golfito’s only hostel, and it’s right on the water. This peaceful spot is a great place to hang your hat for a few days on a budget.
