Playa Zancudo is an isolated, rugged stretch of beach that is perfect for those looking to really get away from it all. Located on the warm waters of the Golfo Dulce, this 6-mile long stretch of beach offers peace and quiet, surfing, fishing and ample beach combing opportunities. Alone time on this massive beach is common, and is best suited for travelers looking for a laid-back beach experience.
Driving to Playa Zancudo is always possible, though the road getting there is long and bumpy. A public ferry and private boats operate between Golfito and Zancudo, and make for a much more enjoyable passage.
Where to Stay
Coloso del Mar is a rustic, cozy beachfront lodge that has 4 cabinas, a rancho for hammock relaxing, and great little restaurant that is open for breakfast and dinner. It’s a darling place to stay, and allows guests to totally unplug and relax.
Sol y Mar has a beach bar vibe with simple cabinas and a great restaurant. Occasional live music and horseshoe tournaments make this the most happening spot in Playa Zancudo (which is still very quiet compared to typical beach towns).
